Alison Darrington
Alison Darrington has worked in the retail sector for most of her working life in both management and as a retail trainer for more than 15 years. She has developed her own highly productive teams and developed many individuals to become successful managers themselves. Alison has also designed and implemented management development programmes as one of her responsibilities while working for a major high street retailer. Her aim is to inspire others with the same passion she has to develop and increase people’s knowledge and confidence. Alison currently works with customer service and sales teams to improve their customer relationships and turnover. She also works with managers who want to develop their leadership skills to increase their teams’ morale, performance and productivity.
Sally Holmes
Sally now professionally trains clients across a variety of industry sectors for the Birmingham Chamber of Commerce and the Worcester Chamber of Commerce. Prior to becoming a trainer Sally spent twenty years of her career to date with Forward Trust now a subsidiary of HSBC. She eventually became its senior credit officer. One of her tasks during that period was responsibility for the development and delivery of a structured, group-wide credit and risk training programme.
Andrew Maskill
Andrew is a partner at Addleshaw Goddard and leads its asset finance unit. Previously, he worked in the city for five years originally training at Wilde Sapte (now Denton Wilde Sapte) solicitors. Andrew specialises in middle ticket asset finance transactions. He acts for thirty finance providers within the UK and deals with general and specialist equipment financing. Andrew has written several articles for various newspapers and lectures on a regular basis to finance providers.
David Maxwell
Until recently, David was Director of Lease Accounting and Evaluation at KPMG. He primarily advised on the accounting and evaluation aspects of asset finance throughout his career in the firm. This covered the entire range of leasing activities. David continues to provide lease advisory services to KPMG via Classic Technology. This is a joint venture between David and CHP Consulting.
David is also the author of the lease evaluation and accounting software known as Classic which is used by all major UK leasing companies.
Alick Mulhall
Alick is now a professional trainer. In 2004 he became co-founder and co-director of Mulhall & Willingham Ltd. trading as FINANCE INDUSTRY TRAINING. Alick joined Mercantile Credit based in Glasgow in 1976. In 1984, having gained an Open University degree, he moved to London to join the growing big-ticket leasing team. He left in 1994 to take on director responsibilities with Angel Trains. After privatisation in 1995 Alick took up a post with Kredietfinance. He has been providing training services to the
asset finance industry since 1997.
Nick Pattenden
Nick is a director of Field Solutions Ltd, specialist providers of finance pricing, evaluation and management systems. Nick trained as a Chartered Accountant with Deloitte Haskins & Sells, carrying out many roles including developing their innovative PC-based financial consolidation system, setting up the PC support department, and finally becoming a senior manager in Coopers & Lybrand audit technical department. He left Coopers and Lybrand in 1992 to set up Field Solutions.
Rachel Somerville
Rachel has so far spent 18 years on the front line of the leasing industry in both finance and operations. The various roles she has undertaken have given her excellent experience in pricing, transacting, documenting and accounting both finance and operating leases. Rachel is currently an independent consultant having recently set up her own firm. Her previous employers include Anglo Leasing, AT&T Capital, ING Lease, Deutsche Leasing UK and Ireland, Copernicus and KPMG Lease Advisory team.
